Tackling Water Waste: U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Features Sensor Industries Customer Standard Communities

We’re excited to share that our innovative customer, Standard Communities will be featured at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Innovative Housing Showcase at the National Mall in Washington D.C. from June 7-9, 2024.

This prestigious event highlights groundbreaking solutions aimed at improving housing efficiency, resilience, and affordability. As part of this year’s showcase, Standard Communities, a leading CRE investment and development firm, will celebrate our recently published results using Sensor Industries technology. We’re proud to have contributed our water expertise and be working behind-the-scenes with multiple Standard Communities properties to address water waste at scale. This is more evidence that sensor technology and real-time monitoring are making waves in the fight against water waste.

A Significant Milestone: Real-World Impact of Our Technology

Recently, we collaborated with Standard Communities to compile findings from the implementation of our water leak sensors in buildings across three major U.S. cities. The results were remarkable and are available in a case study. Our sensors and real-time water monitoring capabilities, saved large volumes of water, translating into substantial cost savings in New York, Rhode Island, and California. This case study demonstrates the significant impact of our technology in addressing water waste at scale in commercial buildings, from affordable housing to apartments and hotels.

The Importance of Addressing Water Waste

Water waste is a critical issue, not just for the environment, but also for property owners and tenants. It’s not just toilet leaks. Undetected leaks in commercial buildings can cause severe damage, leading to expensive repairs and higher water bills. By using our advanced leak detection technology, building managers can identify and address leaks promptly, conserving water and reducing costs. This not only enhances the sustainability of buildings but also contributes to increasing net operating income and reducing insurance risk and cost.
